plein-air painting

this is by far one of the hardest classes i have ever taken. i guess i improved slightly, but i still have a long way to go.

this one is from cystal cove.

first week at irvine regional park, it was really overcast.

we went to little corona when the fires were burning. it was hard getting back in beach mode. this is the second one from that day.

when we went back to irvine regional park.

so, yea, still need lots of work. and i don't think that the scans look all that nice. too much shine and it messed with some of the colors.

work in progress

um, "action"

not done, needs splashes, they horses aren't done yet, etc. i need feedback on this one, so feel free to help me out.

more.

so, i have a couple more that just need for me to go back and touch up, hopefully i'll have time. i have 3 1/2 more to do before the end of the semester, so, it's crunch time.

oh, and i know that they around the same size, even though they should be....so formatting my portfolio for this class is going to be a nightmare. as will printing. i've been having issues with that all semester long, any suggestions?

um, i'll post some more stuff this week. i have a couple of backgrounds that i can maybe be post this week. also, expect some plein-air paintings.

clara

ok, so, here it my first painter project in three different stages: sketch, digital water, and then the final version. i'm really liking painter, but i work so slowly in it. i need to stop myself from zooming in to 500%. maybe that will help.

joe moonstur

he's just your average monster, trying to make it in the world. he's not the brightest, or the bravest, but, he's an everyman's monster. on hes left is his teffy bear, fluffykins, who has a matching night gown and cap.

cartooning class

here is my final for the animal character design. i know the facial expressions need some work. the differences were too subtle and once they were shrunk down it made them look them same.

these are two of my layouts. i am pleased with the way the bench turned out here (in the final version i had "track 2" on the sign, and i think that killed it a little.) and i am ok with the establishing shot, although i know it needs work. i wish i had remembered how much i hate acrylics. i refuse to post the last one. i am not happy with it at all.

anyways, that's all for now.

bogie was too cute

teenage bobcat character design for dana's class.

i went with a punk. something about the bobcat's appearence lends itself to it. i was inking this early this afternoon and my mom walked in and said it was cute. but when I dressed that way i got weird and disapproving looks from her.

anyways, still needs color. and i need to do the turnaround and additional poses too. (does anyone know if i can use this for the colored piece and the turnaround? because that would make life so much easier.)

let me know what you think

bogie

yes, i named the sunglasses after humphrey bogart. i was all happy with the name too, and then my brother pointed out that bogart wore a fedora type hat and not sunglasses. he wanted me to name them "paris" and put it in a jail cell. as amusing as the idea was, i decided against it.

here's looking at you, kid.
